The AI Pet Dance Trend: Dancing Dogs, Cats and Parrots
Where the viral AI pet dance videos came from, the formats people post, the song behind the “Single Ladies dog”, and how to make your own pet dance.
Last updated: 2026-11-01
The AI pet dance trend is a wave of AI-made videos on TikTok and Instagram where people’s own pets dance. The version that went most viral puts a dog front and center as the lead dancer in a dark dance studio, with two human backup dancers moving in sync behind it and the camera down low at the dog’s eye level, like a K-pop dance practice video starring a pet. Other versions have the pet stand up on its hind legs and dance like a person. On AI Pet Dance you can make your own from one photo of your dog, cat, rabbit or parrot.
Where the AI Pet Dance Trend Started
There’s no single original post. The trend built up over a few weeks in September and October 2026, carried by a handful of very big videos:
- September 3, 2026 — TikTok creator @jonnyslife_ posted a small white dog with a towel wrapped on its head, standing up and dancing in the shower (watch on TikTok). It reached about 6.1M views. The same day, the Instagram account @devonrex.tyrion posted a cat dance.
- September 29, 2026 — @gogoretriever posted a golden retriever puppy in pink pajamas leading two backup dancers in a studio (watch on TikTok). With about 25M views and 3.2M likes, it’s the most viewed one we found and the video most people picture when they hear “AI dog dance”.
- October 2, 2026 — @thedancingweenie’s golden puppy leading two dancers under studio lights, about 2.9M views.
- October 3, 2026 — @shalunts_art posted two cats, a ginger one and a Siamese, standing up and dancing at home (watch on TikTok), about 5.8M views.
- October 8, 2026 — on Instagram, a cat dancing to “Smalltown Boy” posted by @ramonsimonlebron passed 1.9M likes.
- October 11, 2026 — @stella_dachshund’s long-haired dachshund led two dancers with hair flips (watch on TikTok), about 11.7M views, tagged #putaringonit.
- October 16, 2026 — @kennyslowbird posted a flock of green parrots dancing in a dance studio (watch on TikTok), about 12.4M views on TikTok.
The view and like counts above are those posts’ numbers on TikTok and Instagram, as checked on November 1, 2026.
In late October 2026 it was still growing, with new posts from many different accounts every week.
The Formats You’ll See
- The dance-studio routine. The pet leads from the floor on its own paws while two people dance behind it. Head bobs, side steps, a head-shake “hair flip” at the camera, a little spin and a final pose. This is the format behind the most-viewed posts we found.
- The stand-up dance. The pet gets up on its hind legs and dances like a person: in the shower, in the living room, wherever.
- Two pets together. Two cats dancing side by side at home is a popular twist.
- Birds in dance class. Parrots showed that it isn’t only cats and dogs.
What Song Is the AI Dog Dance?
Many of the dance-studio videos use Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”, which is why people search for the “Single Ladies dog” and tag their posts #putaringonit. It isn’t the only one: other posts use other songs, like the Instagram cat dancing to “Smalltown Boy”.
Why People Love It
Part of it is simply a pet doing something it never could, with total confidence. The studio format adds a joke of its own: two serious human dancers following a puppy’s lead. And anyone can make one with their own dog or cat, so new versions from new accounts keep showing up every week. You’ll find them under #dogdance, #dancingdog, #catdance, #dogsoftiktok, #goldenretriever, #dachshund and #parrot.
How the AI Version Works Here
Your video isn’t cut from someone else’s clip. It’s made fresh with Seedance 2.0 Mini, a reference-to-video model by ByteDance, from your photo plus the dance you pick.
From the dance you pick:
- the moves and their timing
- the setting: a dark dance studio, a cozy living room or a disco dance floor
- the two backup dancers (in the studio dance) and the camera angle
From your photo, which the AI follows (small details can come out a little different):
- your pet’s breed, fur color and markings
- its face
- a collar or clothes it’s wearing
The AI sometimes keeps part of your photo’s own background, so the room can come out a little different from the one in the examples. The sound is an instrumental dance beat made with the clip, with no vocals; to post it with “Single Ladies” or another song, add that song from TikTok’s or Instagram’s sound library.
Make Your Pet Dance
Upload one photo in the AI pet dance generator, pick the dance-studio, living-room or disco routine, and choose 6, 10 or 15 seconds (6, 13 or 20 credits). You get a vertical 9:16 MP4 in 720p with no watermark. For photo tips and posting advice, read how to make a pet dance video.
Join the Trend Responsibly
- Use a photo of your own pet, or one you have the owner’s permission to use.
- If a person is in the photo, they need to have agreed and be 18 or older. No celebrities or public figures.
- Label your clip as AI-generated when you post it.
AI Pet Dance Trend FAQ
Who made the first AI pet dance video?
No single person did. Early big posts came on September 3, 2026 from @jonnyslife_ on TikTok and @devonrex.tyrion on Instagram, and the studio format took off with @gogoretriever’s golden retriever puppy on September 29, 2026.
Is the golden retriever in pink pajamas really dancing?
No, it’s an AI video. The trend is built on AI-generated clips of real people’s pets, which is why so many owners are making their own.
Does it have to be a dog?
No. Cats, parrots, rabbits and other animals all dance in this trend, and our generator works with any of them. A photo of a person works too.
Is AI Pet Dance connected to TikTok or the creators above?
No. AI Pet Dance is not affiliated with TikTok, Instagram, ByteDance, Beyoncé or any of the creators named on this page. The clips shown here are credited and linked to their creators.
